Grass Widow found the batman!!

Grass Widow is a great band and they have a new album coming out which we’re all pretty excited about. also all three members are subscribers to Mothers News, and all (independently) found the batman, in our regular “find the batman” contest. kind of hard to see, but Hannah (bass) is wearing her Mothers News batman pin (what you get when you find the batman) in this promo video for the new record:

Mothers News May release party / show

yoooooooo tomorrow night (friday may 4th) at 9pm we’re having a Mothers News release party / show here in Providence for Mothers News. this will be at as220, on empire st..

bands will play, including:

who advertises in Mothers News?

thanks to Tom we now have a nice spreadsheet of all past Mothers News advertisers. over the past 2 years there have been 208 unique advertisers, most of whom took out multiple months of ads. plenty of businesses, bands, websites, artists, restuarants, bars, “i don’t know what this is”es, and naturally, whatevers. thanks everyone!!! this pic is the tail end of that list, sorted alphabetically by business type. i like yoga alright, but it’s kind of disappointing that yoga has a 1 point lead over witches… of course you have to bear in mind that this is “type of business”, not a demographic breakdown- there were plenty of witch-owned and -operated businesses that advertised in Mothers News, but only 2 of them catered specifically to witches… still… LET’S GO, WITCHES!!!!

12 angry pages

we had a release party for the pape last night, at flan y ajo, the tapas place in downtown providence. what can i say, it ruled! lots of people, delicious food… looks like this is going to be a regular thing so plan on coming out next month!

Jeff’s been making zines for years, and each new one is amazing! uh, this is no exception, in that it is exceptional. Jeff’s zines are so good because they seem like “art books” but there are enough “zine cues” to underline that this is not some pretentious mark that someone is trying to make upon the Earth, it’s just the next thing from Jeff. Oh, and we also have I think 1 more copy of Jazz Tobacco, which is mega good.
