WORK/DEATH reissue campaign

Scott “WORK/DEATH” Reber quit his 8 year job as a night janitor and is focusing on his music, going HARD AS HELL IS HOT. first up is a massive reissue campaign of tapes by W/D and related acts, as released on Reber’s “Three Songs Of Lenin” label. I think it’s going to be like ten tapes all said and done, all with the original multi-color fold out silkscreen covers and inserts (on paper bag paper). the first three tapes out of the gate are:

  1. Work/Death “Le Corbusier”
    my personal favorite tape of his, a dedication to brutalist architecture- one long piece, one long note, in two parts (A and B). TSOL press release: “stare at the floor and wait until you leave the room. focus on this point and have patience. a440.”

    insert reads:

  2. Olneyville String System
    TSOL press release: “improv string trio conversations between cybele blue shift (violin), miriam black forest/black sea (cello), and myself (upright bass). teenage daydreams of xenakis and feldman. obsessive-compulsive inner ear itch/scratch.”
  3. Ten Thousand Things “Flat Bed Wreckers”
    TSOL press release: “on going collaboration with geoff mullen. this installment leans towards open sky nz drone pitted against low gray city clouds. organ, midi, microcassette.”

The Body

NPR has a nice write-up about a recent batch of shows that our friends The Body played with The Assembly Of Light Choir, including an interview with Chip King, who is 1/2 of The Body. Chip is the namesake of our mercantile website “Chipsylvania“, and as per our agreement, every month gets a free personal ad in Mothers News. Here’s one from a few months ago:

BEIGE DUVET

By personal request, I wrote up a nice write-up for Robert Pickle’s band Scream Mask, for the Gross Domestic Product website:

Scream Mask is a one man band featuring Sack Town Son and now Mayoral candidate of Barf City, Robert Pickle, ex- Sexy Prison, ex- Chastity Wig. If you’re going to choogle through a shuffling malaise, do it with the best! Lots of people nowadays drop echo on a whisper or moan, which makes 100% no sense– Scream Mask drops echoey shouts that really resonate through a literal basement that he pays rent on. Thin white man playing drum machine and guitar, sort of like the audition part of Purple Rain. One time he played and gave out sandwiches between songs. Then: “This is the last song. It’s called ‘I Farted On The Sandwiches’.”. This is what we’re dealing with.
Six songs that are actual songs.
Tape has no cover. Pro-mastered in crystal case.
