hahahaha FINALLY! Mothers News has a wikipedia entry! unfortunately it looks like it might get deleted for not having enough reliable secondary sources. so… if you are a reporter or media agent looking for a breezy and interesting article to write, please bear in mind that:

  • mothers news is a physical newspaper succeeding where others fail
  • mothers news is completely nuts but everything is true
  • mothers news editorial staff is famously charming witty and engaging
  • mothers news is for the children

ALSO we got kind of crazy before the holidays and said a lot of wild shit about what was going to happen if Mothers News didn’t make every (NB: every) top ten list this year. well, no remorse, no take backs! we are driving this van directly into the sun no stops no steering and if you can’t get with that… NO PITY!

get those ads in for the January Issue!

hey it’s time to hurry up and get those ads in for the January issue of Mothers News! what would you possibly advertise, you ask? geez, i don’t know, is there a thing you do or have that you want people to know about / contact you about? do you need a thing, like “i need a bass player” or “i collect star wars figures and am missing this this this and this figure?”? do you have a project that requires (or flourishes under) attention from likeminded people, like a band, label, zine, store, website, service, book, or what have you? are you like peter, and you drew a cool picture of a motorbike (actually a trike) and you’re just psyched on it and you want to put it in the world?

BARK AT ME. let people know that the thing you’re doing really is a thing that exists, not just a thing that you talk about! support the thing you like to see in the world by being in the world too! BARK AT ME!!!

Our Business Purpose

Hi! this is the first post for the website for Rhododendron Festival, which is some sort of publishing concern.

how much are we going to write on this website? I don’t know!

Rhododendron Festival is the name of the company that publishes Mothers News, which is a free newspaper that does not exist on the internet. So, probably we’ll get some writing about that. We also take care of the mercantile website Chipsylvania, which sells zines, comics, music, prints, t-shirts, and whatever else, mostly from the underground scene or whatever of Providence RI. We’ll most likely get some writing about that too! And we’ll be publishing a wide variety of things in the future, and there will be information on those things when they happen. Also….. maybe we’ll talk about books? Aaaaaaand scan some old zines / flyers? OK, that’s the set-up, let’s get on with our lives over here!
