Scott “WORK/DEATH” Reber quit his 8 year job as a night janitor and is focusing on his music, going HARD AS HELL IS HOT. first up is a massive reissue campaign of tapes by W/D and related acts, as released on Reber’s “Three Songs Of Lenin” label. I think it’s going to be like ten tapes all said and done, all with the original multi-color fold out silkscreen covers and inserts (on paper bag paper). the first three tapes out of the gate are:
- Work/Death “Le Corbusier”
my personal favorite tape of his, a dedication to brutalist architecture- one long piece, one long note, in two parts (A and B). TSOL press release: “stare at the floor and wait until you leave the room. focus on this point and have patience. a440.”
- Olneyville String System
TSOL press release: “improv string trio conversations between cybele blue shift (violin), miriam black forest/black sea (cello), and myself (upright bass). teenage daydreams of xenakis and feldman. obsessive-compulsive inner ear itch/scratch.”
- Ten Thousand Things “Flat Bed Wreckers”
TSOL press release: “on going collaboration with geoff mullen. this installment leans towards open sky nz drone pitted against low gray city clouds. organ, midi, microcassette.”
to order go to chipsylvania. these highly sought-after tapes are in limited quantities so DON’T SLEEP!
uh oh, my Providence Comics Scene Report is up on the Comics Journal website… unfortunately the comments are turned off- i was hoping for some yammering responses…

and let’s jam out this download of his latest tape (still available in precious tape format from Micky Z’s Price Tapes label) while driving through suburbs or playing video games with our cousins:

UPDATE: Chippy can’t decide if he’s going to be there, but he’s playing the next night in Brooklyn somewhere, so he might be around.
also duh, Deforge is going to be there.
Mothers News reporter James McShane is in this great show at Giant Robot, of strictly drawings on post-it notes. “post-it” is a registered trademark of 3M and WHO CARES? each note is $20, a great scoop on ORIGINAL DRAWINGS.
